Split detail. Split is an object made from two broken halves of a single rectilinear volume. A deep, excavated crevasse reveals a rough interior landscape which stands in contrast to the smooth, marble exterior surface.
Pour imagines a traditional bench seat broken and distorted; a wire brushed solid oak frame bends and splays its legs as a solid volume of white marble fills the void created by the broken object, restoring its functionality. A hand carved meniscus edge makes the marble appear as if it is pouring forth from the broken bench.
Snarkitecture is excited to participate in the Bearbrick World Wide Tour 2 in Shanghai curated by Edison Chen. We were asked by Medicom to create a custom 1 of 1 Bearbrick for the tour. The Snarkitecture version is a 1000% Bearbrick cast into the negative void of the original packaging. The final object reveals the form and texture of the EPS foam packaging while also being a perfect fit. The exhibition runs from Saturday 9/20 to Sunday 9/21 at the Shanghai Mart, concurrently with Yo’Hood event.
